It seems like everyone wants to get on the Social media wave. To have a Twitter account is today the must not only for the personal use but also for the business purposes. Getting new followers is the main goal of the trying however engaging them? Well that is the different story. The usual excuse is that there is simply no time for that in our busy lives. However without proper approach there will be hardly and satisfactory result.
So what are the seven basic mistakes that are killing your Twitter trying?
1. Are you really communicating?
Most of the Twitter members use their Twitter only to broadcast the tweets. However social networks are made by individual people and without individual approach it is really hard to establish any closer relation.
So next time when someone sends you a direct message, don’t pass it without the respond. Show your followers that you care about them by responding.
Develop the communication by replying on others’ tweets. You might learn new things and gain loyal followers.
2. Twitter is not a link share service
I must confess that I am guilty of this sin as well. Most of my tweets are referring to other articles that I enjoyed to read. Although I think there is nothing wrong about providing your followers with interesting articles, Twitter should be foremost about the real people, their thoughts and ideas and not just about the link shearing. I promise I will try to improve on this:)
3. Do you know what the Bio is?
Bio is a great place to provide your followers with the basic info about you, your interests or anything you consider important. This is the easiest way how to give your followers information about you and prove them you are the real human being.
4. Are you pushing?
To establish the Twitter account for the business purpose is a common thing today. However it seems like lot of marketers, entrepreneurs and companies miss its core purpose. The Twitter is not a marketplace to sell the products!
5. Are you spamming?
Pushing your offers via tweets is one thing but spamming your followers individually via direct messages or the Twitter auto messages should be considered as online harassment. I think these tools should never be used for marketing activities.
6. Are you tweeting too intensively?
How many tweets you publish per day, 20 or 30? Well if you tweet them constantly during the whole day it is ok. However if you log in to your Twitter to gush out 10-20 tweets in the row, you may be sure that they will not be read and what’s more you will most likely loose couple of pissed off followers.
7. Are you active enough?
Twitting should be your daily activity. It is not enough to log in only 3-4 days per week and for the rest days to taka a vacation. Twitter is the most dynamic social network and if you want to get new followers and keep your current ones you have to be active daily.

My pet peeve is the sponsored tweets. It really annoys me how these unwanted tweets litter my feeds!
